If you happen to read this and you do not know what the Week of Inspiration is: You are dearly invited to participate during the first week of June! Have a look here.
How do you start your day, lovelies? I turn on the radio. That is the first I do when I come into the kitchen to make breakfast for my sons and a big cup of hot and black coffee. Music makes me awake (unless it is classic music – I love it for relaxation. But it makes me kind of sleepy. Except Beethoven and Verdi).
This is one of my favorite songs. I was there. 2008. Everytime I hear it I could cry!!!
If it is the right music, I tend to make it louder and louder until I finally start to sing. And dance. These are my favorite mornings! And this song will be my faithful companion for the day. I do not know if you have ever thought about how song texts are created. Of course there are rhymes – sometimes. There is a certain rhythm. There are repeat sections. But mostly –- it is about feelings. And a perspective on situations. Let this last sentence melt on your tongue! This is what we are doing each day of this week: a perspective on situations.
Do you have a favorite song which you happen to have on cd, mp3-player, radio or anything like that at home or with you? Or you love to sing? Do | play it. Now.
- Why do you love it so much?
- Is there a certain melody part which is glueing in your mind?
- Is there a certain text line in the lyrics which you simply adore?
- How does the voice of the singer (if there is one) capture your attention?
Song is the word we will be concentrating on.
Go into your day. Take your favorite line of your song with you. And the melody. Hum it. It is lovely to surprise the people in the bus with that ;). Look at the people around you. Look at what they are doing. Look at all the small acts of goodness you happen to see today.
Alternatively look at your natural surroundings (if there are today no people around you). Look at the flowers, grass, trees, hills, paths, animals and insects and how lovely all works together and nurtures each other.
If the small acts of people which you love to see today | this landscape full of life around you was to be a part of a song you could write – which line comes to your mind? Do not think. Sing it to yourself. Or would you even write a whole refrain? Do it. There is no need to be intimidated because I am no songwriter, too. It is all about expressing the feelings we have in just a few words. Condensing our feelings into full-bodied poetry.
You know what I am going to say? No RULES. No judging. Everything you do is RIGHT.
