my days were full of ideas. On Friday I had to think about plum cake. Why? Because I love cinnamon. I love plums. Combine both and you have — Zwetschgendatschi.
Plum cake as seen here is called Zwetschgendatschi in some parts of Bavaria. It has a yeast dough and really ripe and juicy damson plums on it. Sometimes we put streusel (crumble) on the plums. But we eat it always with whipped cream with a bit of cinnamon and vanilla. Simple. Tasty. I love how the juice of the plums fill my mouth and the crunchy streusel added to it. And the smooth and creamy cream? Aaaah.
I dreamt a bit of plum cake and suddenly one of my designs told me that:
“Hey, you wanted to knit something stripy. Why not use the colors of a plum cake?” — I smiled. So you will soon see some pictures of a new shawl design, totally stripy and with cinnamon, plum and streusel. And its name? Jones.
