Color it! a group adventure for color-craving knitters

A color-it!-along. What on earth is that? A short summary.

Dear knitting groups, knitterly friends and yarn store owners,

this is a group adventure exploring colors, textures and the fun of diversity! From me for you :). Colorbombing ourselves. I so love this idea!

color-it-buttonYou gather a group of knitting friends. In a lottery every knitter picks a different colorway and a different pattern. Secretly! Everybody runs home and knits two cuffs/mitts of the same length and size.  When you meet again there will be much Ah!s and Oh!s when all creations can be exhibited! Every knitter keeps one of his cuffs/mitts and swaps one on random. Put all your different beauties on. Go to town. Let the eyes of the passers-by pop out. Be different :).

And what is my role in that? I will provide you with everything you need for this! There will be six different texture patterns for the cuffs/mitts, invitation cards for printing out, a paper sheet for lots, some fun infos on the way and a digital badge for everone’s website or blog: I am different. I am colorful. You can see it right there in the right sidebar!

And the best is: all this will be during February and March on this blog – for free. Just click on the tag “diybloggercontest” or “coloritalong” and you will have all the posts on one page! This package of goodness will be revealed one at a time and we will soon start with:

  1. INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE ORGANIZER.
  2. Followed by the INVITATION CARDS.
  3. How to sew the LOTTERY BOWLS.
  4. A paper sheet for the LOTS.
  5. All six PATTERNS for print out! And of course some fun infos beforehand…

Important informations like gauge or additional notions are included in every pattern so that every knitter has the necessary input. And do not nail me down on the order of this list – all this will be on the spur of the moment :).

About the patterns

Mock-Turtle-Fish

All patterns are easy to knit, you only need to know a long-tail cast-on, knit, purl, knit two together, slip slip knit, how to knit in the round, k2tog-slip back bind-off … Basic knitting knowledge. Nothing difficult. I promise :). And to make you curiouser and curiouser:

All patterns are inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland! Because this was always the most colorful book for me…

The first pattern are the Mock Turtle mitts. They are cute. They are unique. They are easy and you can knit them watching the movie “Alice in Wonderland”. And finish them during it!

`Of course not,’ said the Mock Turtle: `why, if a fish came to me, and told me he was going a journey, I should say “With what porpoise?”‘

`Don’t you mean “purpose”?’ said Alice.

`I mean what I say,’ the Mock Turtle replied in an offended tone.

Yes, with what purpose? Good play of words. Let us always think of our porpoises when we wear the Mock Turtle mitts :)!

Until next time – hugs,

Kati
